Old Armenian

Etymology 1

edit

An Iranian borrowing: compare Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (bwnk' /bunag/, baggage; abode, camp), Classical Persian بنه (buna, household furniture, goods, and chattels; baggage; house; abode). Ultimately from the root discussed at բուն (bun). Georgian დაბუნაგება (dabunageba, to build (cattle) stalls/pens; to make (game) coverts), Old Georgian დაბუნაგება (dabunageba, to lodge) are borrowed from the same Iranian source.
