Old Armenian edit

Etymology edit

Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *h₁ulh₁ro- and cognate with Ancient Greek εὔληρα (eúlēra, reins) and Latin lōrum (thong, rawhide whip, rein). In view of phonological difficulties Martirosyan considers this a Mediterranean substrate term.
