  1. umbrella or parasol, a cloth-covered frame used for protection against rain or sun
  2. kind of pavilion, open about half round, and capable of being turned so as always to shade the occupant
  3. (botany) umbel, a flat-topped or rounded flower cluster typical of the family Umbelliferae
