Etymology edit

First attested in the Neung'eomgyeong eonhae (楞嚴經諺解 / 능엄경언해), 1461, as Middle Korean 주머니〮 (Yale: cwùmèní).

Possibly from 쥐— (jwi-)/*주— ("to hold") (> 잡— (jap-)) + —ㅁ (-m, nominalisation suffix) + —어니 (-eoni).
