有レ 蠅 聚集。其凝累 十丈之、浮レ 虛以越二 信濃 坂一 。鳴音如レ 雷、則東至二 上野 國一 而自散。 There was a swarm of flies. They are connected together approximately ten jō (30.3 meters or 33 yards) long, and flew over Shinano Hill. Their buzzing was as of thunder; and when they reached eastwards towards Kōzuke (Kamitsukeno) Province, they scattered.
