editFrom Javanese ꦥꦫꦩꦱꦱ꧀ꦠꦿ (paramasastra, “grammar”), probably calque of Dutch spraakkunst, from Old Javanese parama (“finest”) + śāstra, from Sanskrit परम (parama, “finest”) + शास्त्र (śāstra).
