troisc (present analytic troisceann, future analytic troiscfidh, verbal noun troscadh, past participle troiscthe)
- to fast (abstain from food)
- to abstain [with ar ‘from’] (a food, tobacco etc.)
The finite forms of this verb are very rarely used. Instead, the collocations bí i do throscadh (literally “to be in one's fasting”) and déan troscadh (literally “to do a fast”) are used.
