Unorthodox variant simplified from (). Found in the Jiyun集韻 (Jíyùn)》 dictionary published during the Song dynasty (1039 AD).

Eventually adopted as an official form by the People's Republic of China in 1965 based on the Table of General Used Chinese Characters for Publishing 《印刷通用漢字字形表》 where Xin Zixing (新字形) is promulgated for the first time.
