This character is not to be confused with visually similar but unrelated 市 (U+5E02) ("market; trade; city") which has five strokes and is written 亠 across the top of 巾. Note that the Ming typeface used in Japan and Korea as well as the Kangxi dictionary uses a vertical dot instead of a slanting 丶 dot for the top component of 市 (U+5E02, 5 strokes) and may appear to be similar with 巿 (U+5DFF, 4 strokes) depending on the font used.
