龍の馬
(Redirected from 竜の馬)
Old Japanese edit
Etymology edit
Calque of Middle Chinese 龍馬 (MC ljowng maeX).
Equivalent to a compound of 龍 (tatu, “dragon”) + の (no2, possessive particle) + 馬 (uma, “horse”).[1][2][3]
Due to either haplology or vowel clustering, the initial u of uma was lost. (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
Noun edit
龍の馬 (tatuno2ma) (kana たつのま)
