Etymology edit

From *klonъ +‎ *-iti, probably from Proto-Indo-European *(s)kel- (to crook, to bend). Has been compared (by Berneker, Mladenov) with Proto-Slavic *sloniti (to shelter, to screen).

  1. to tilt, to slant, to incline
  2. (by extension) to tend, to verge, to arch
  3. (reflexive) (+ *sę) to bow
