Welcome! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here! By the way, you can sign your comments on talk (discussion) pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name (or IP number if you're not signed in) and the current date and time. If you have any questions, then see the help pages, add a question to one of the discussion rooms or ask me on my talk page.

Please don't specify an "edit summary" when creating a new page: the software will provide a useful one automatically.—msh210 (talk) 16:54, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries edit

Hi. It will help us if you leave the edit summary blank when you create a new page. That way, the page contents are used as a summary, and it's easy to see what was added when looking at the Recent Changes. Equinox 19:06, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

About program edit

I notice you got confused about {{ro-noun-n}}... under ===Noun===, you want his:

{{ro-noun|n|  plural goes here, of course}}

and {{ro-noun-n}} goes under ====Declension==== (you can look at my changes to program to see how this is ordered.)

Other declension templates are in Category:Romanian declension templates. If you have any questions about them, just ask me. The feminine ones can be a little odd to work with, as I recall. — [ R·I·C ] opiaterein15:08, 13 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Translations edit

Translation sections only go in English entries. See Wiktionary:Translations. I already moved the Romanian bodyguard translation for you. Ultimateria 21:59, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

More translations edit

Like [1] please only add the singulars for nouns, and for adjectives the masculine singular. So for ideology, we would only link to ideologie, and for romanian we would only link to romanesc and roman, not romaneasca, romanesti, romana, romani, romane, etc. — [ R·I·C ] opiaterein17:12, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Can I confirm this, you don't needs the masculine and feminine, when clicking on the masculine form (when the word exists in Romanian) that entry should show the feminine and/or neuter forms. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:49, 23 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi again... edit

Dear Wernescu (or BaicanXXX),

It seems that you have moved on from the Romanian Wiktionary to the English Wiktionary. Sharing knowledge is encouraged, but a lack thereof isn't. You keep committing the same mistakes we have tried to bring to your attention back "home", but it seems that you stubbornly continue this quest of making a complete mockery of the Romanian language and especially the people who are committed to this project we call Wiktionary.

Please humour me and place the word "forfecabilitate", which you attest exists in a sentence because I certainly fail to do so.

I have brought your insolence and lack of conformability to the attention of administrators. Unless you start behaving like a mature and respectful contributor, your actions will come with consequences.

Have a good night,

--Robbie SWE 20:59, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Translations for plurals edit

We don't translate for plurals unless they have an interesting sense, such as one that is plural only. Hence your edit to intoxications was reverted. Mglovesfun (talk) 21:15, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

graniță and graniţă edit

I noticed your edits for these two pages and must impress upon you that your approach does not quite fit in with our scheme here on English Wiktionary. You changed graniţă so that it now contains both ţ and ț, and you also created the page „graniță“. The former is bad because consistency is important, and the second is bad for the same reason because it is made to coexist with the other page. It complicates Wiktionary needlessly to have two pages for the same word with the same spelling, differing only in encoding/character presentation. We must choose only one encoding scheme (there are other ways to solve search problems, such as redirects). Before you started editing, we were using only ţ and ş (with cedilla). I don't blame you for not knowing our conventions beforehand, nor for adhering to your national standard of encoding, but if you want to do that here, you must first discuss that with our main Romanian contributors, Opiaterein (talkcontribs) and Word dewd543 (talkcontribs), and, when you've all agreed upon a standard, use only that, please. Apart from all that, it is wonderful to have another active Romanian contributor. Many thanks for your additions so far. – Krun 12:18, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Do you understand what I'm saying? I've had no response from you, nor have you started a discussion with our other Romanian editors, and yet you continue to add translations with the comma letters. In particular, the translation you added to road, "șosea" already has a page at şosea. Please refrain from adding any more words with ș or ț until you've spoken to Opiaterein and Word dewd. – Krun 19:04, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Languages spoken edit

Do you speak English?

Vorbiţi engleză?

Can you add a babel box to your user page? Like {{Babel|ro-N}} or {{Babel|ro-N|en-2}}. Or whatever is appropriate.

Translations of adjectives edit

For adjective translations, we list only the primary dictionary form, which is the masculine singular form for Romanian and other Romance languages. We also do not indicate the gender of adjectives, because the gender will vary with inflection. Only nouns (or other words with a fixed gender) should have the gender specified in a Translations section. --EncycloPetey 19:26, 6 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I would like to remind you of this. You are adding multiple forms of the same word as translations, please don't do this. —CodeCat 10:09, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

restricție edit

Hi there. I was just wondering if that should be restricţie. (influență was moved to influenţă a little while ago) SemperBlotto 13:43, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's the sort of thing that would benefit from a consensus. I don't think there is one, really. I've considered starting a vote on the issue, but we have too few editors who speak Romanian. So I have a bad feeling it would end in no consensus. Mglovesfun (talk) 14:05, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
