Cognate with Czech vískat, Lithuanian ieškóti (“to look for”), Latvian iẽskât (“to search for lice”), Avestan 𐬌𐬯𐬀𐬌𐬙𐬌 (isaiti, “to seek”), Sanskrit इच्छति (iccháti, “to long for, wish, to seek”) and English ask.
