Declension of rejse
A merger of three related verbs:
- The intransitive Old Danish rise, Old Norse rísa, from Proto-Germanic *rīsaną (“to rise”), related to English rise.
- The transitive Old Danish resæ, Old Norse reisa (“raise”), from Proto-Germanic *raizijaną (“to raise”), related to English rear (raise is borrowed from Old Norse).
- A verb borrowed from Middle Low German, German reisen, from Proto-Germanic *raisōną (“to set out, depart”), derived from the noun Proto-Germanic *raisō, see above.

- bring up
- stir up, instigate
- leave, depart
