Etymology edit

From Proto-Finnic *vetädäk, from Proto-Finno-Ugric *wetä, most likely a borrowing from Proto-Indo-European *wedʰ-. Cognate to Finnish vetää, Ludian vedädä, Erzya ветямс (veťams, to carry, to lead), and Hungarian vezet.
