Inherited from Proto-Turkic *orgak (sickle), from *or- (to reap), the same root of اورامق (oramak, to reap); cognate with Azerbaijani oraq, Bashkir ураҡ (uraq), Kazakh орақ (oraq), Kyrgyz орок (orok), Tatar урак (uraq), Turkmen orak, Uyghur ئورغاق (orghaq) and Uzbek o'roq.
