Etymology

From Sanskrit स्थापना (sthāpanā, “establishment; installation; etc”); possibly via Old Khmer *sthāpanā, sṭhāpaṇā, sthāpanā, sthāpana, sthāpaṇā, sthapanā (“to establish, found, install, or set up (a religious image or building)”). Doublet of สถาบัน (sà-tǎa-ban).
