From Sanskrit स्थापन (sthāpana, “causing to stand, founding, establishing, instituting”) or Sanskrit स्थापना (sthāpanā, “placing, fixing, founding, establishing”). Compare Modern Khmer ស្ថាបនា (sthaapaʼnaa), Pali ṭhāpana, Lao ສະຖາບັນ (sa thā ban), Hindi स्थापना (sthāpnā). Doublet of สถาปนา (sà-tǎa-bpà-naa).
