kitchen sink edit

From Shoof (talkcontribs), known for indiscriminately churning out scads of entries on everything but the kitchen sink- except now they've thrown that in, too. This is purely SOP. Chuck Entz (talk) 00:52, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Delete. And don't create garage sink, bathroom sink, or art room sink, despite their attestability as phrases. Equinox 00:55, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
I agree that it's SoP of an adjectivised noun + a noun. What about translations, though? —CodeCat 00:57, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Not really. That has no idiomatic usage outside of the phrase in question, just as everybody and his cousin doesn't provide evidence for his cousin as an idiom (see everybody and their brother, everybody and his mother, everybody and their dog, etc).
Keep. At COCA about 40% of the non-literal uses of kitchen sink are in everything but the kitchen sink. The other expressions are a heterogeneous lot, some involving forms of the verbs throw, throw in, and chuck, others using including, and other forms.
In contrast and their relative/pet doesn't seem to occur apart form everybody/everyone and. The set of relatives can include cousin , and grandmother, but apparently not commonly in-laws. DCDuring TALK 05:19, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Keep an idiomatic sense per DCDuring. - -sche (discuss) 05:52, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Deleted on sight, along with other SoP crap from the same user. We could probably use the drama-related meaning. SemperBlotto (talk) 08:04, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't seem appropriate to shoot down a term when respected contributors are advocating it. Keep per DCDuring, convenient for listing derived terms per anon below. DAVilla 12:52, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Note that there is

also kitchen sinks have a specific design to them. They're not simply a sink that's installed in a kitchen. They're specially designed as to wash dishes, and often times have a sprayer and a garbage disposal. Contrast with a kitchen phone, which is simply a phone that's in a kitchen. 4.238.7.140 10:46, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

There wasn't much in the entry. Also, I don't normally add entries without citations so the "burden" of not recreating the entry without citations is not relevant to me. DCDuring TALK 15:44, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Coincidentally I saw this term a few weeks ago in Wikibooks (here). — Ungoliant (Falai) 20:27, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

kept the current entry. -- Liliana 15:50, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
