EtymologyEdit

See nutzen.

PronunciationEdit

  • IPA(key): /ˈnʏtsən/, [ˈnʏtsən], [ˈnʏtsn̩]

VerbEdit

nützen ‎(third-person singular simple present nützt, past tense nützte, past participle genützt, auxiliary haben)

  1. Alternative form of nutzen

Usage notesEdit

  • There is a general tendency to use nützen instead of nutzen in the southern half of the language area. In Austria, nützen is even the predominant standard form.
  • In northern and central German, nützen is used alongside nutzen for the sense “to be useful; to benefit”, but almost never for the sense “to make use of”.
