Borrowed from Aramaic כּוֹרָא (kōrā, a dry measure), Classical Syriac ܟܘܪܐ (kōrā, a dry measure), from Akkadian 𒄥 (/⁠kurru⁠/), from Sumerian 𒄥 (gur, a bundle of barley; standard unit of capacity). Also found in Hebrew כֹּר (kōr), and in the meaning of a young donkey in Safaitic 𐪋𐪇 (kr /⁠korr⁠/) beside two asses pictured.
