Borrowing from Old Khmer *prāsāda, prāsādda, prāsātra, prāsādha, °prāsāddha, braḥ sādha (temple or sanctuary having a high pinnacle); ultimately from Sanskrit प्रासाद (prāsāda, palace; terrace). Cognate with Modern Khmer ប្រាសាទ (brasat). Compare Pali pāsāda (mansion; palace).
