From Pali aṅga (constituent part, characteristic part), from Sanskrit अङ्ग (aṅga, body, component, member, part); perhaps via Old Khmer អង្គ (ʼaṅga), អង (ʼaṅa), អំ (ʼã, member, part; article, item, thing; body, person). Compare Lao ອົງ (ʼong), Thai องค์ (ong).
