Usage notesEdit
Because Afrikaans can ambiguously mean “African” as well as referring to the language, Zuid-Afrikaans is often used instead; though this is often considered erroneous by experts on Afrikaans.

Usage notesEdit
- The word can be used with or without a definite article: (Das) Afrikaans ist eine germanische Sprache.
