From Proto-Finnic *tallat'ak, possibly from Proto-Finno-Permic [Term?]. Cognate with Finnish tallata, Votic talloa, Ingrian tallata, Livvi tallata, Veps tallata and Komi-Zyrian талявны (taľavny).
