1. to swish (to produce a harsh noise, like fast moving objects in contact with something)

   viņš raksta, ka spalva žvīkst ― he writes (so) that (his) pen swishes

   viņi skrēja... zeme dunēja zem kājām, zari cirtās sejā un žvīkstēja ― they ran... the earth thundered underfoot, the twigs curled against (their) faces and swished
