From Pali duccarita (literally bad action; bad act; bad deed; etc), fron du (bad; ill) + carita (action; act; deed; etc); equivalent to Thai ทุ () +‎ จริต (jà-rìt). Cognate with Khmer ទុច្ចរិត (tuccaʼrət), Lao ທຸຈະລິດ (thu cha lit).
