From either Philippine Spanish pancit or Ilocano pansit or Tagalog pansit, from Hokkien, either 扁食 (pán-si̍t, literally “kneaded food”) or 便食 (pân si̍t, “dish that is conveniently cooked”, literally “easy food”). Compare Indonesian pangsit.
