Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀫𑀺𑀮𑀤𑀺 (miladi), from Sanskrit मिलति (milati). Cognate to Punjabi ਮਿਲਣਾ (milṇā), Nepali मिल्नु (milnu), Gujarati મળવું (maḷvũ), Assamese মিলা (mila), Sylheti ꠝꠤꠟꠣ (mila), Bengali মিশা (miśa), and Marathi मिळणे (miḷṇe).
