irritieren
German
editEtymology
editPronunciation
editVerb
editirritieren (weak, third-person singular present irritiert, past tense irritierte, past participle irritiert, auxiliary haben)
Usage notes
edit- Though their senses are close, the German verb is to some degree a false friend of English irritate. In particular, the German word is much less likely to express anger or frustration, but rather a negative surprise or something that hampers one's concentration.
