suffer from (third-person singular simple present suffers from, present participle suffering from, simple past and past participle suffered from)

(transitive) To have a particular disease or condition.
He suffered from cholera.

Many people advise against describing a disabled person as suffering from the condition that relates to their status as a disabled person and suggest describing a disabled person as having or experiencing that condition instead.
