User:Fytcha | 2022-12-31 | The Romanian orthography is very shallow with only a handful of exceptions which should make implementing a phonemic transcription module straight-forward. Phonetic transcription on the other hand is probably a bit harder but also not really necessary (further information can be found e.g. here). Considering how carelessly the previous, experimental (!) {{ro-IPA}} has been used (by non-speakers of Romanian) and considering that Romanian stress is never fully predictable, I implore you to make it so that the module throws an error for polysyllabic words unless the page title plus an acute accent is provided as an argument. Stress data is provided in machine-readable form on dexonline.ro (some dictionaries use ´ while others use _). AFAIK, dexonline.ro has authorized ro.wikt to use their data so mass-copying their stress-marks (and phonetic respelling of unadapted borrowings) should be possible (@Robbie SWE knows more about this). For two examples of phonetic respellings, see "cool" Pr.: cul and "bruxelez" ux pron. fr. üs, the latter of which is a phonetic Romanian notation which is explained here. |
