  1. (transitive) to take (for oneself), to pocket
    Er steckte das Geld ein und lief weg.
    He pocketed the cash and ran away.
  2. (transitive, often with müssen) to endure, to suffer (an unpleasant experience, especially without complaint)
    Der Mann musste während des Kampfes mehrere Schläge auf den Kopf einstecken.
