• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.

• Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.

WT:FA TR

Hi,

Thanks for Persian contributions. Could you please try keeping the transliterations more standards as in the preferred way (Wiktionary column) per WT:FA TR? E.g. "x", not "kh", "i", not "ī", etc.? --Anatoli T. ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 03:57, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

sure, I will do that. I am still learning an new to Wiktionary. I will stick to the Wiktionary conventions for transliterations. My only question is the long vowels. :I used bar to denote that, like in "ī", should I avoid these too? Or is there an alternative way?

Since this is based on modern Iranian, only the long ɒː is transliterated as "â", otherwise iː and uː are just "i" and "u", we don't use "ī" and "ū", e.g. آمریکا‎ (âmrikâ). Remember that the short vowels in modern Iranian are "e" and "o" (which mostly replaced "i" and "u" in Classical or Dari), plus diphthongs. Occasionally, long ê and ô are also used. Help with usexes

Hello,

I'm a beginner learner of Persian who's been adding various Persian usage examples adapted from my textbooks and various other resources, but I know from personal experience that textbooks can often have awkward/unnatural/inaccurate usage examples and I might have also made mistakes in the adaptation. When you have the time, could you check if the following usage examples I've added are all accurate? Here are all the entries in question:

I'm not sure how widespread Bostani should be to be included at Wiktionary, but in any case, would you like to start a Bostani writing club?

Hello, wow a modern Persian script based on older iranian writing systems sounds very interesting! I don’t really have the time for it currently with finals coming up and I don’t think i will be able to contribute in any way. But thank you for telling me! I’ll definitely read more about it later.
