Etymology
editTraditionally connected to Ancient Greek μάγγᾰνον (mángănon, “magic charm”) and derived from a Proto-Indo-European *meng- (“to beautify in a dizzying manner”), though this is not completely certain.[1] See also मञ्ज् (mañj, “to be bright, cleanse”).[2]
