Pictogram (象形) or Ideogrammic compound (會意／会意) : 𠘧 + 又 – a hand holding a tool similar to a hammer, hence activity (with a reference to the act of "beating"). The whole character was then borrowed to indicate an ancient halberd made of bamboo.
