Etymology

From การเลือกตั้ง (gaan-lʉ̂ʉak-dtâng, “election”) +‎ ทั่วไป (tûua-bpai, “common; general; universal”); calque of English general election. Cognate with Lao ການເລືອກຕັ້ງທົ່ວໄປ (kān lư̄ak tang thūa pai).

     The Council of Ministers that administers the government affairs of the Nation on the day prior to the date this Constitution is promulgated shall be the Council of Ministers under the provisions of this Constitution until the Council of Ministers newly set up after the first general election under this Constitution assumes functions.
