From Proto-Uralic *-mVk (“our one possession”) or Proto-Uralic *-n-mVk (“our multiple possessions”). Cognate with Moksha -нк (-nk, “our one or multiple possessions”).

-unk

(personal suffix) Used to form the first-person plural present tense of verbs (indicative mood, indefinite conjugation).
tanul (“to study”) → tanulunk (“we study, we are studying”)
(possessive suffix) our (first-person plural, single possession)
ház (“house”) → házunk (“our house”)
(personal-pronoun suffix) of us (appended to a numeral or a pronoun)
három (“three”) → hármunk (“the three of us”)

másik (“other”) → másikunk (“the other (of us)”)

Az egyikünk nappal alszik, a másikunk éjszaka. ― One of us sleeps during the day, the other at night.

(personal suffix) Variants:
-unk is added to back-vowel verbs

-ünk is added to front-vowel verbs
